Squarespace Affiliate Program (Updated 2024)
Squarespace is one of the most popular website builders brands. A website builder's goal is to make a website's creation easy.
You don’t have to worry about getting hosting; it is all included in your subscription. Website builders like Squarespace target people who know nothing about building a website and are looking for a quick and easy way to lunch one.
I am not a fan of website builders as I think WordPress will always be the best option, but this is not an article about whether you should use Squarespace but if you should join the Squarespace affiliate program.

Squarespace Affiliate Program
The Squarespace affiliate program has a good-looking affiliate sign-up page on its website, but you learn nothing from it.
To learn about the program, you must visit the Impact Radius affiliate network, where the program is hosted. Then, you can click the “Apply Today” button on the Squarespace sign-up page and be redirected to a sign-up page on Impact. If you already have an Impact account, log in, and you will find the program through the brand search.
I have not found any specific information regarding the program's requirements. Squarespace only mentions this on their affiliate landing page:
"We accept websites that are relevant to our products and do not contain objectionable or offensive materials."
Since the acceptance rate on Impact is just 4%, Squarespace does allow just anyone to become a Squarespace affiliate.
I assume that the program has a minimum traffic requirement.
Once you are accepted to the Squarespace affiliate program, you are provided with a Squarespace affiliate link. You can create an affiliate link to any Squarespace page you like.
The cookie duration is 45 days. To be eligible for a commission, people must click on your Squarespace affiliate link and purchase a plan within 45 days.
Squarespace Affiliate Program Commission
Besides their primary website builder subscription, Squarespace also has other products like scheduling subscriptions and domain registration.
At the time of writing this review, you could only receive a commission by getting people to subscribe to their primary subscription (paid subscription, not just a free trial)
The commission stated on the Impact Radius is $100-200. Nevertheless, the conditions for receiving a commission are very unclear. The Squarespace team has done a terrible job describing the terms of the Squarespace affiliate program.
The conditions on Impact are as follows:
"Plan Type: Commerce - $200
Customer Status is new - $100"
So apparently, the higher commission applies to the Commerce plan. However, Squarespace has two Commerce plans - Basic ($27) and Advanced ($49).
There is no mention if it applies just to the more expansive plan or to both.
There is also no information on when one is eligible for the $100 commission. They only mention that the referral has to be new, which is expected. Most affiliate programs have this condition.
But we don’t know to what Squarespace plan this commission applies to.
Does it apply to the cheapest Personal plan ($16) or only to the Business plan ($23)?
There is no way to know. I have reached out to Squarespace inquiring about all of this but have not received a reply.
Can You Make $1000 a Month as a Squarespace Affiliate?
The Squarespace affiliate program has a big commission rate, and their tools are in high demand. People always need websites, and website builders simplify the whole process and allow people to launch their websites fast and without any prior knowledge.
Nevertheless, I would expect a lower conversion rate because Squarespace has been falling behind its main competitor, Wix. Wix has been adding many new features and improving existing ones, but the same cannot be said about Squarespace.
If people don’t rush with building their website with a builder and do some research, they will conclude that it is better to start a website on WordPress as it is better in all aspects and it is not that much harder to use. You also don´t need any coding skills.
Let´s, therefore, assume that your conversion rate would be 0.5%. With this conversion rate, you would need 20.000 monthly unique visitors to get ten referrals and thus make $1.000 a month. For the simplicity of the example, I assumed that all referrals would earn you the lower $100 commission.
How to Make Money as a Squarespace Affiliate
To promote any product successfully, you need to focus on getting the right audience.
Try to think of people who might need a simple website/blog but don’t have any experiences or time to learn.
A few days ago, I ran into an article about starting a blog as a senior. It spoke of starting a blog on Squarespace, including affiliate links. That is a perfect example; seniors would benefit from a website builder like Squarespace.
I am sure you can come up with many more different ideas. Once you have a list of a couple, check search volumes and difficulty for each keyword.
Often your keywords will look like a good opportunity only on a paper, but once you analyze them, you will discover that they have no search volume.
I have analyzed the main keyword for the article I mentioned earlier, which was “how to start a retirement blog“, and as you can see in the screenshot below, it is not a good keyword to write an article about as no people are searching for it.
Every time you write an article, always analyze the keywords. If you don’t, you might waste a lot of time on an article that will nobody ever read.
Another example of how you could promote Squarespace would be by comparing it with its competitors.
The leading competitor is Wix. However, as I mentioned earlier, Wix is better and more popular than Squarespace, so it would be hard to do an honest review in which Wix would be a winner.
If you decide to make a comparison, I recommend being an affiliate for all comparing products. That does not apply to website builder comparisons but to any comparisons you write.
Should You Join the Squarespace Affiliate Program?
You can make money with the Squarespace affiliate program, but the question is if you can get accepted.
The low 4% acceptance rate shows it is not a simple task. Therefore, if you hesitate to become a Squarespace affiliate, I recommend just trying to apply to the program and see if you can even get accepted.
If you get accepted, take your time and analyze keywords thoroughly, as many affiliates are already promoting various website builders. You don´t want to produce content for keywords that are too competitive or have no search volume.
I would recommend not giving this affiliate program much priority. The Squarespace affiliate program is confusing, and it is hard to reach Squarespace support and get answers. This is a bad sign as it means the affiliate program is not that important for them.
You can try affiliate marketing with Squarespace but don’t focus on it too much. There are much better affiliate programs.
